Interview with Denise from Jack’s Mama’s Creations
Hello Denise! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your business?
My name is Denise and I started Jacks Mama’s Creations in 2014 in the anticipation of my new son Jack’s arrival.
I began knitting hats and slippers for him and was encouraged by my friends and family to sell them and the business was born. Jack continues to inspire my creations and is a great product tester and model for me. When I’m not busy crocheting and chasing Jack around, I work as a pediatric nurse at the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton.
What made you decide to start a WAHM business?
I decided to start the business when I began making creations for my new son Jack. I had received a pair of slippers at my baby shower that I loved and wanted more! However, I felt the price was a bit more than I was looking to spend. So, I looked for materials to re-create them at a lower price point.
I love being able to make a high quality product more cost-effective so more families can enjoy custom creations.
When did you start Jack’s Mama’s Creations?
I began in September 2014
Is there anything that makes your products unique/special?
What makes my slippers different is that I offer an alternative sole to the popular sheepskin soles (that I also offer). The minky suede sole is still warm and cozy but it drops the price. The slippers start at just $20. I also make my boots extra tall to keep little legs and ankles warm, particularly popular among the baby wearing community.
Is shipping available?
Yes, I can ship most items for just $5!
Where can people find you and buy your products?
What is something you love about this job?
I love making slippers and seeing the families come back year after year. Doing craft sales and meeting new and returning customers face to face. It’s also very special to see my slippers on babes when I’m out and about.
What are you future goals for this business?
I hope to continue to grow my business and create a high quality product.
I LOVE these! E should have a set in every colour :). #KeepWarmInStyle
